A dancer in traditional attire, gracefully holding a parrot, set against a dark minimal background.
The painting depicts a graceful dancer in traditional attire engaging with a vibrant parrot, symbolizing beauty, grace, and connection with nature. The dancer's poised stance and traditional elements reflect cultural richness.
The style is minimalist and figurative, focusing on the subject with very few distractions. The dancer and the parrot stand out starkly against the plain dark background, emphasizing simplicity and elegance.
This painting would be suitable for living rooms, art studios, or dance studios where serenity and focus are appreciated. Its minimalistic design works well in contemporary settings, adding cultural depth and artistic flair.
The mood of the painting is serene, calm, and contemplative. The interaction between the dancer and the parrot evokes feelings of harmony and grace, with the minimal background contributing to a sense of focus and tranquility.
The composition is balanced and centered, with the dancer occupying the majority of the frame. The outstretched arms guide the viewer's gaze towards the parrot. The dark background ensures the figures remain the primary point of focus, creating an uncluttered, harmonious visual experience.
The colour palette primarily includes deep reds, pinks, and warm tones for the attire, contrasted with the dark black background. The parrot introduces a splash of vibrant colour through green, yellow, and red, adding life to the composition.

Part of Sid Katragadda's "Dark Indian Women" Abstract Portrait series. Inspired by the dance forms of India. Katragadda believes that an artist's primary objective should be to capture a culture Ð and that a culture, or ethnicity, can be best understood through its women (because society shapes its women). He paints colorful and elaborately dressed, voluptuous, dark Indian women - paying equal attention to their omnipresent bindis and resplendent ornaments as he does to their vibrant draped saris and brilliant blouses.
Ideally paintings don't require much care as its a vertical surface, hence dust doesn't settle quite easily. You can gently dry dust the painting once in a month. You can also gently use a slightly damp cloth and dab it gently over the surface to capture the dust particles. You can do this once in 6 months.
Please do not use soap water, detergent, disinfectants or any chemicals over the painting as it might dissolve the colors. Paper and cloth paintings are usually framed with a glass on top, hence the artwork will remain intact. You would just need to clean the glass. Always keep artworks away from direct sunlight and also from walls having water leakage problem, - as both can damage it.
