Indian Paintings Traditional Art - Tribal Painting: "Festivities among Santhal TribeÓ by Bahadur Chitrakar - Original Handmade Indian Art Paintings (Tribal Art) for sale online in Fizdi Ð Fizdi.com - 21"W x 29"H Bahadur Chitrakar, an Indian artist from a village in Medinipur, West Bengal, India, specializes in two traditional folk art form of Bengal - Patachitra style of scroll painting and Kalighat painting style. Bahadur belongs to a family of ÔChitrakarsÕ or ÔpaintersÕ (Indian artists), where painting is a tradition, which is passed on from one generation to the next in the family. He too learnt the art watching his parents and grandparents practicing it during his childhood years. He prefers to paint over paper than the traditional medium cloth irrespective of the painting style he would follow, and would use homemade natural colors mostly derived from plant extracts.

Ideally paintings don't require much care as its a vertical surface, hence dust doesn't settle quite easily. You can gently dry dust the painting once in a month. You can also gently use a slightly damp cloth and dab it gently over the surface to capture the dust particles. You can do this once in 6 months.

Please do not use soap water, detergent, disinfectants or any chemicals over the painting as it might dissolve the colors. Paper and cloth paintings are usually framed with a glass on top, hence the artwork will remain intact. You would just need to clean the glass. Always keep artworks away from direct sunlight and also from walls having water leakage problem, - as both can damage it.

  • Framed artworks are shipped in thermocol boxes, secured with multiple layers of bubble wraps.
  • We ensure paintings are packed with utmost care to avoid any damage during transit and delivered to you in perfect condition.
  • International shipping: Paintings shipped internationally are rolled and shipped in a tube. The painting is not stretched and is not ready to hang. It is meant to be framed by the customer at their local frame shop.
