A thoughtful blue monkey against a green backdrop, evoking introspection, painted in a surreal style.
The theme revolves around contemplation, nature, and the introspective quality of the animal world, presenting the monkey as a symbol of reflection or thoughtfulness.
The painting is surreal and modern with minimalistic composition. The use of exaggerated color choices, such as a completely blue monkey, adds a surreal touch to an otherwise realistic depiction.
This painting would be suitable for a modern living room or study. It can also be a thoughtful addition to an office space, where its contemplative mood can inspire focus and reflection. This artwork will complement any room or space beyond those mentioned, depending on individual preference.
The mood is introspective and calm, evoking a sense of quiet contemplation. The upward gaze of the monkey suggests reflection or wonder.
The composition is centered around the monkey, sitting on a tree stump, gazing upwards. The background is left intentionally blank, drawing full attention to the figure and adding to its symbolic meaning.
The color palette is dominated by cool, deep hues of blue for the monkey, contrasted with a flat green background, creating a minimalist yet striking visual contrast.
The Blue Monkey is a original handmade painting made by Puja bhandari. This painting is made with acrylic colors on canvas. This artwork is signed by artist, and accompanied with the Certificate of Authenticity. The width of the painting is 24 inches, and its height is 36 inches.

Like us monkeys also have a fundamental need to belong. They are a part of a society, a large group, yet in this painting the artist paints a lone monkey, away from the rest of the group in a meditative pose. Monkeys are famously playful and mischievous, sometimes foolish and vain. Yet somewhere along the journey, a sense of maturity and wisdom has emerged. The colour blue denotes freedom, intuition, inspiration, sensitivity and dedication. The hues represent visuddha, a spiritual communication. In this painting the artist wants to depict contemplation, the discovery of limitless silence within. Though the monkey is looking up towards the vast open sky, it embarks on an introspective journey. The joy, calmness and sincerity found is reflected on his face. The artist is relating to her own journey through the lockdown, her own inner peace through this art.
Ideally paintings don't require much care as its a vertical surface, hence dust doesn't settle quite easily. You can gently dry dust the painting once in a month. You can also gently use a slightly damp cloth and dab it gently over the surface to capture the dust particles. You can do this once in 6 months.
