The painting portrays a romantic theme, centered on the emotional connection between two figures. It represents an intimate moment with a sense of longing and affection, reflecting human relationships.
This artwork follows a modern abstract style, combining geometric forms with a minimalist approach. The figures are stylized with smooth, sharp edges, and the composition echoes contemporary treatments of traditional themes.
This piece would be well-suited for a living room, bedroom, or study space, where its romantic theme and modern style can evoke an intimate, reflective atmosphere. It can also serve as a conversation starter in contemporary spaces. This artwork will complement any room or space beyond those mentioned, depending on individual preference.
The mood is tender, romantic, and introspective. It evokes feelings of warmth, connection, and timeless affection, with a subtle undercurrent of longing or anticipation between the two figures.
The composition is well-balanced, with the two figures placed centrally in the foreground, creating a focal point. Geometric shapes and layered background elements provide depth and structure, guiding the viewer's gaze across the painting.
The painting uses a balanced palette of earthy tones, including hues of red, yellow, and blue. The background is softened with shades of green and gray, creating a harmonious contrast with the boldness of the figures.

Ramayana is one of the most famous epics from Hindu literature. The story of a prince who was exiled from his kingdom asked to roam the forests, and subsequently rescue his wife after she was kidnapped by the evil king Ravana is narrated every year during the harvest time between September and November for nine days and is soon followed by a celebration of his return to Ayodhya. Kalyanpurkar gives the tale his comic twist to this classic epic. He reimagines the scene of the union of Ram and Sita after their separation for a long time. He satires on the common question asked by every woman tired of waiting for their spouses, ÒWhat took you so long?Ó. A question that represents both adorations for their spouses and their contempt for the amount of time taken by them to complete a singular task. KalyanpurkarÕs geometric cubist style further connects the theme to the contemporary art style.
